AGATE Blog Guidelines

We invite all AGATE members in good standing to consider submitting a post about a topic of interest. Your blog need not represent the perspective of all members. Over time, we hope our blog will represent the range of views among AGATE members.

  • The suggested length is 500-1,500 words, but this is not absolute. Must be related to issues in education, child development and parenting, with priority given to issues related to:
  • the unique profile and needs of gifted, advanced or twice exceptional learners.
  • gifted, enrichment or advanced programming.
  • best practices in curriculum, instruction and assessment.
  • best practices in social and emotional education.
  • best practices in identifying gifted children.
  • equity issues in gifted education and advanced programming.
  • innovative or new ideas in education, especially those related to gifted, enrichment or advanced programming.
  • educational issues facing our district.
  • the joys and challenges of parenting gifted children, twice exceptional children or advanced learners.
  • helpful tips and resources for parents and educators.
  • Can be based on personal perspectives, academic research or literature, newspaper or magazine articles or books. Book, film or podcast reviews are welcome.
  • Can highlight useful resources, but should not promote any programs or products that cost money.
  • Can recount personal experiences, but not personal grievances. This is not a space to call out the failings or inadequacies of our district, community, or any particular individual.
  • Can provide tips or ideas for other parents, but not in a way that promotes the writer's own business or professional profile.
  • Can address controversies, but not in a way that demonizes another point of view.
